The Elusive Fungi

Observe the fleeting mushroom motif. It's been difficult to get a photo of one of these because they tend to get snatched from my hands and purchased on the spot. No one is quite sure what kind of mushrooms they are - Basidomycota Heatherum?

This is one of Heather's new purse styles. The top is zippered close and there is no flap, like on her messenger bags. They still feature the same rugged seat belt strap.

Echinacea? Gesundheit!

Below are a few examples of Heather's Echinacea or Cone Flower motif.
The top two and middle right are messenger style bags and the middle left and bottom left are pillows. The bottom right image is a close0-up of the stitching.

Give a Hoot

Owls are the latest addition to Heather's Aviary Collection - she has many other adorable birds that I'll share with you later. But in the meantime, you'll have to be satisfied with these 2 Owl pillows. I know I said I love the crazy wheels on her bicycle motif bags - but I really love the crazy owl eyes. It's like they're trying to hypnotize you .

If you start clucking like a chicken don't blame me. You're the one that was staring at those mesmerizing Owls.

I want to ride my Bicycle

Everytime I see Heather's Bicycle motif that Queen song starts running through my head - you know the one.On the lower right is one of her new wristlet style bags. I'll be posting more images of those as well over the next week.
Below is a detail of the wristlet bike. I love the crazy wheels.

Evolution of the back drop

Yes, it has been a long time since anyone has updated this blog.
We are going to try harder from now on - we promise!

Heather has bribed me with a particularly striking Ginkgo bag (pictures to come later) to keep this blog up-to-date and maybe even get her Etsy shop up and running.

New photos of Heather's latest designs will be posted over the next week. So stay tuned!

In the meantime, I thought I'd show a little history of the 'Textiles by Heather' backdrops. Heather just created a new backdrop for her booth after selling the last one.
Above is the first banner which sometimes appeared above her booth or behind her display depending on where she was placed in the market.
Curiously, no one ever offered to buy this one from her.

This double panel is the one she sold/traded for.
Even un-ironed they were adorable.

Finally we have the current display.
Clean and striking, I think it's the perfect way to set-off her pieces.

And it kind of has a super hero quality to it - as if Heather uses it as a cape when she isn't at the market.

By the way, Heather has been known to create custom commissioned capes in the past. So far she has only made them for children - but I'm sure she could make an adult size if asked nicely.

It's possible Heather is beginning to regret asking me to update her blog.
