Chubby Trees
Labels: Bag Designs, woodland at 10:13 PM
Baobab trees are probably Heathers favorite trees. I don't think she has ever actually seen one in real life, but she has a big book of nature photography and she loves the Baobab tree pics.
It only grows in Africa, Australia, and Madagascar. The thing I like best about it are the numerous myths and legends about the Baobabs. My favorite is the creation story in which all of the animals were given a tree to plant. The Hyena planted his tree upside down with the roots sticking up and that's what became the Baobab.
In the middle right below is an example of Heather's Dancing trees. Although they are very festive, there's something slightly skeletal about them. Reminds me of Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead)

No Market this Saturday!
at 7:46 PM
Heather will not be at the Market this Saturday July 19th.
Nor will she be there the 26th or the 2nd - but yours truly will.
Bravely, manning the booth on my own!
Come on down and see me, but please don't ask any difficult questions.

Heather's Rorschach Test

It's always interesting to hear what people think this design is.
We have heard bamboo, worms, & snakes. As well as something that is not appropriate for this family friendly Blog.
Heather claims they aren't anything in particular - just a shape that's easy to sew around.
I think they look like Deep Sea Vent Tube Worms

She's Tricky
Labels: Aviary, Bag Designs, Transport at 11:42 AM
I don't know how she does it, but Heather has managed to train her little birdies to balance on her bicycles. Their form is impeccable and their concentration unbreakable.
I've been throwing birdseed at my screen all night and neither one of them have become distracted.
Bird on a bike bags zipping away at the market (nearly) every Saturday.
